Hand made, sustainable and recycled Australian timber items
Many people request recycled and/or sustainable Australian hardwood for their custom furniture. They are doing so for a variety of reasons, some of which are detailed below:
- Recycled hardwood is less expensive than new timber in almost every case. This makes it ideal for crafting unique items for clients with a strict budget because we offer high-quality furniture at less cost. All our furniture items are custom built to our clients’ dimensions and needs.
- There is a wide assortment of recycled and sustainable timber available, including messmate, Tasmanian Oak and alpine ash and this makes it easy to combine recycled and sustainable timber if necessary. We use only recycled timber or sustainably-grown timber approved by the Forest Stewardship Council Australia (FSC).
- Unique results are obtained by using recycled hardwoods that come from a variety of sources, such as crates, construction timber, old pieces of furniture, flooring and industrial locations. Our clients receive exclusive items of bespoke furniture by requesting this type of wood and the results deliver unusual textures and colours and added character and ambience. Our furniture combines high-quality workmanship (using traditional joinery – no nails, staples or screws except for hinges and handles on tables) with recycled and/or sustainable hardwood – this means your furniture will last for many years into the future. In fact we provide a 20 year guarantee for all our hand crafted furniture.
- Choosing recycled local hardwood for your bespoke pieces is of great benefit to the environment – fewer mature trees are harvested and reused timber does not end up in landfill.

I was recently asked on my Facebook page if I would ship a bed to Canada – the writer finished with “ha ha”, as they clearly thought the proposal was absurd.
However, I was able to respond, “Yes, I can definitely ship to Canada”. I have already shipped one of my beautiful hand made beds to Texas at a cost of around $AUD600. Usually I will deliver the bed (including to some Australian states) and put it together myself – this process will take about an hour and you will then be the owner of a fabulous, distinctive bespoke piece of furniture that will last for at least 20 years.
Have a look at the pictures on the website or send me your own hand-drawn design. I can discuss your individual requirements and hand craft an heirloom for you and your family.
I have also shipped a Moorish style bed to a client in Spain. It was constructed with recycled Tasmanian Oak and Messmate (both species of eucalyptus). The drawers are on wheels because my client is a wheelchair user.
